For the first time in Hollywood history, a world film premiere has been held on a Pacific island: Santa Catalina Island, which is considered something of a California "Capri". This was for the screening of "Morituri", a film shot on and off this very island. More than 200 guests of honour, chosen from the finest names in the artistic world of the American film capital, were taken to the island aboard the ship "Magic Isle". The premiere took place at the Casino Theatre on Catalina and was followed by a grand reception, a grand ball and a midnight supper. "Morituri" stars Marlon Brando, Yul Brynner, Janet Margolin, Trevor Howard and a whole host of fine internationally known actors, directed by the Austrian director Bernhard Wicki in his Hollywood debut.
